Tullow Oil Ghana Partners Mckingtorch Africa on Waste Segregation

Tullow Ghana generates ~30 tons of plastic a year from its offshore platforms and onshore support base and offices. In recognition that plastic pollution, alongside climate change and biodiversity loss, is one of the biggest global environmental challenges of our time, Tullow Ghana has worked to find ways to reduce its use of single use plastic and increase the amount of plastic recycling. Mckingtorch Africa is a social enterprise in the waste sector in Ghana pushing sustainable limits through programs and innovations facilitated by waste upcycling and recycling. Some of the companies programs and products include waste upcycling training, academic and institutional research partnerships, waste segregation programs, waste buy-back programs, footwear and bags from waste, public space installations from waste and contributions to Ghana’s National Waste Management Policy.
