Public Space Installations are a major component of how people experience our circular economy innovation. One of the biggest challenges in the city of Accra has been the lack of sustainable cooling and bus shelter spaces across the city for biking, walking and jogging. Thousands of people walk and jog along the Aburi Mountain stretch on weekends and the only existing 8-seater cooling shelter is broken with only metal skeleton seats left.
Mckingtorch Africa recognized this as a problem. On Saturday September 20th, 2025, we took the initiative of designing a solution using our recycled plastic wood boards. With 30,100 of pure water sachet waste and approximately 14.4kg of plastic waste, we fixed the shelter and successfully created sustainable durable seating for everyone to enjoy.
For Mckingtorch Africa, improvement of well-being, solving social inequality problems, dealing with environmental risks and ecological scarcity is crucial in making a green transition and producing sustainable communities. Such steps are important for people to thrive and fulfill their dreams in a healthy and clean environment that is free of waste.
Join us in reshaping the future of waste. We invite you to collaborate, support, or simply spread the word. We are looking for partners and funders to do this on a larger scale. Will you join us?
