Last Friday, a wave of progress flowed through our office as ten determined Ecofem women entrepreneurs gathered to take the next critical step in their journey—officially registering their businesses. Having completed their initial training, this moment marked a transition from learning to action, moving from informal enterprise to formal recognition.
Supporting them in this milestone is Samaira De, a compassionate and driven high school student who has been actively involved with the Ecofem ladies since the early stages of their training. Inspired by the women’s passion and potential, Samaira recognized an opportunity to make a difference. She organized a laptop drive within her school and community, successfully collecting four laptops. One of those laptops was personally donated to the Ecofem women to assist with all their computer-related needs, from business registration to managing their future online platforms. The device will remain at the facility, accessible to the women whenever they need it.
Samaria’s support did not end with a donation. Samaira has partnered with the project to assist with digital onboarding, helping the women understand how to register their businesses online and manage their online presence. Her dedication springs from a clear understanding of the positive effect that women-led businesses can have on families and communities.
“I have been connected with this project from the time the training started in the 1st phase. As discussed with Mr. Awuku, I was interested in helping during the website creation of the marketplace and then helping the women create their accounts, and training them how to operate, as most of the ladies had very little experience,” said Samaira.
In addition to the laptop, a television screen that will be used as a projector during workshops was also donated. These contributions represent more than just hardware; they symbolize access, opportunity, and empowerment.
The goal is clear: to equip these women not just to survive in the economy, but to thrive— being formally registered, digitally capable, and economically independent.
Thanks to supportive allies like Samaira and the continued backing of our community, the Ecofem entrepreneurs are building more than businesses—they are building the future.
