2022: Through the waste, we Rose-05/27/25

~A Year of Purpose in Motion

2022 was a year that came rumbling~loud with chaos, thick with challenges. But in the heart of Accra, from the dirt and the dust, we sculpted hope. Turning bold ideas into everyday impact, constructing the first ever bus shelter on the African continent made entirely from recycled plastic. 3.5 tons of waste collected from the streets of Accra, transformed into something purposeful and lasting.

That same drive carried us across the country as we installed 15 iconic “waste bottle trees” in three different regions. We called upon the youth, and 500 answered, eager to take action for the earth. Our Workshops echoed with new ideas, while our beach cleanups contributed to a healthier coastline. We also conducted five upcycling training sessions to equip communities with the tools to repurpose waste into valuable resources.

Sixteen new bins now serve the streets as quiet sentinels for a cleaner tomorrow. Two thousand reusable bags made their way into the hands of everyday heroes. Additionally, we launched two community recovery programs, which turned waste into opportunities and incentives. And through it all sweet, the sorting, and the storms, our team salvaged ten tons of plastic waste from the streets of Accra.

The world paused, and our efforts caught the attention of leading global media platforms such as BBC, CNN, CGTN, and DW, allowing us to share our impact with a wider audience.

In 2022, we didn’t just recycle; we redefined resilience. We transformed scapes into statements, waste into witness, and plastic into power. And we are just getting started.
