Promoting Sustainable Shopping Practices: A Recap of Mckingtorch Africa’s Reusable Bag Pilot Project.- 18/11/22

Initiated by The Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm Conventions Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for the Africa Region in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Mckingtorch Africa carried out its mission of promoting sustainable shopping practices during the course of the second and third days of the pilot project. We were stationed at Melcom Ghana and the Marina Shopping Mall Airport Branch for this endeavour. Melcom Plus Kaneshie.

Over the course of these two days, our team gave out 1200 reusable bags to eager customers. But we didn’t stop at distribution; we also interacted with customers, starting discussions about the value of reusing shopping bags and the reduction of single-use plastics.

We wanted to encourage people to incorporate eco-friendly habits into their daily lives through these exchanges. We enable consumers to improve the environment on each and every trip to the store by promoting the use of reusable bags.

We feel very optimistic about the future as we consider how successful these past two days have been. The fervour and openness exhibited by consumers validate our conviction in the combined ability of minor efforts to bring about significant transformations. Going forward, we are still dedicated to growing our initiatives and encouraging a sustainable culture in our local communities.
