On September 22, 2023, Makafui Awuku, the founder and CEO of McKingtorch Africa, hosted a distinguished team from various USAID organizations from both Africa and the United States at his facility in Ghana. This visit recognized McKingtorch Africa’s innovative model, which the U.S. Embassy in Ghana has praised as one of the most successful and sustainable initiatives emerging from U.S.-funded programs.
During their visit, the delegation explored McKingtorch’s climate-conscious initiatives, learning about its unique approach to environmental sustainability and the circular economy. The team engaged with Makafui to gain insights into how the organization is making an impact by educating and empowering young people across Africa to take the lead in climate action.
The visit not only celebrated significant achievements but also highlighted McKingtorch’s role as a blueprint for youth-led innovation in addressing global environmental challenges.
